Waitlisted but still planning to go to Japan

Good morning all! Hope all is going well. I'm seeing a lot of posts of people being shortlisted and I am very happy to see that!

I, however, was not as successful and was waitlisted. I have a lot of intention of still going to Japan due to a personal relationship. JET was, IMO, an easy way to get there as it is a a stable job with insurance, placement, housing, and a naturally more close nit community who are also not from Japan. Although, since I have been waitlisted, the odds of me going are very up in the air. Is there other ways for me to get there with very basic level Japanese, find some good work, and set myself up over there?

I'm wondering if anyone here has been in a similar situation as myself and how they might have gone about sorting that out.
