Is it possible to apply for a Japanese language school without an agency? (Sri Lankan student here)

Hi everyone,

I’m from Sri Lanka and I’ve noticed that most Sri Lankans who go to Japan for language school usually apply through local agencies. But I’m wondering is it actually possible to apply directly to a language school in Japan without using an agency or an agent?

Has anyone here done it successfully? If yes, how was the process like especially for the school acceptance and student visa application? Was it much harder compared to going through an agency, or was it manageable?

I’d really appreciate hearing from people who applied on their own and got accepted (or even faced challenges). Just want to know if it’s realistic for me to try doing this independently.
