Good day redditors.
Looking for some English guidance or reference material for freshwater fishing in Japan within an hour or two drive of Shinjuku, mainly lure fishing with a light spinning set-up and hoping to target trout. Not new to the pastime as I’ve whiled away many an hour fishing in my home country so don’t need advice on lures or equipment setup. Also, Japanese language skill is pretty basic so I can’t read the information I find in most places.
I know of the stocked pond fishing that you can do in Akigawa or other nearby rivers. I’m not so keen on that but might be worth a try if the kids are in tow. I’m mostly looking for where I can go (just general river area), what regulations to be aware of, and what I can take and eat (if safe). I have access to a vehicle so places that are a bit harder to access with buses and trains are more desirable; I’m mostly looking for quiet, some fish, and just to be out there.
So yeah, thanks in advance for your help. May your lines be tight and your drags be smooth.
