Typhoon No. 9 will make its closest approach to the Kanto region between the night of the 1st and the morning of the 2nd. Rain is expected on the 1st, with the maximum temperature expected to be less than 30 degrees


As of 3 p.m. on July 31, Typhoon No. 9 is moving northwest at 15 km/h over the ocean east of Japan. It has a central pressure of 980 hPa and maximum wind gusts of 35 meters per second.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the typhoon is expected to come closest to the Kanto region between the night of August 1 and the morning of August 2, while maintaining its strength.

Because of this, widespread rain is expected in Kanto on August 1, and temperatures may not reach 30°C, staying below typical midsummer highs. In Chiba Prefecture, strong northeasterly winds are also expected from the afternoon.

Due to the typhoon, ANA has canceled flights to and from Hachijojima Airport on August 1.
