The whole “can’t send stuff over 10,000 yen” thing through the post office really ruined care packages. I wanted to send some out this year but now I either just have to stick to only snacks or go fuck myself.
It’s all these random things continuously piling up… Getting Married? Nah, we won’t notarize the one document Japan wants. Sending stuff to people? Better keep it down to black thunders and ramune hard candies (which people are tired of).
Exchange rate consistently at 150 yen/1 USD so eat shit if you want anything like deodorant stateside.
2 weeks of 6 days work weeek and it’s back ti to back. only Sunday off 😵💫. workplace is always 35-40°C . I fuckin hate summer
back to work blues after a good vacation. Plus somehow the jet lag is hitting me with 2-3 days delay, so the week started fine, but I am sleeping worse and worse since Wednesday
Scheduling interviews is annoying.
1 – I keep crushing me jimmys when I get on my bicycle.
2 – ate cheese on the weekend and it wrecked me. Pretty sure I’m lactose intolerant now. Just need to go get tested after I get my referal letter.
3 – we lost another pregnancy. This time it’s really hitting my wife (last time it was me) and I just feel so bad for her. It’s shit, man. Really shit.
1. Konbini foods are actually shit, piles of greasy and salty stuffs.
2. I always feel ugly in Japan as a south east asian
3. Why are meats expensive?
Sending anything international at the post office.
It was already getting silly after COVID but there are still services that aren’t running and what’s left seems to require so much effort to create a label it’s hardly worth it. Even then there are many questions to face at the PO, like you’re attempting to send a bomb or something.
Took me 1.5 hours to send a test paper back to the UK this week despite having spent considerable time at home printing the correct label. It should have been a 5 minute job at most but no. Could I open the envelope? If not then better to send it this way. How many sheets of paper are in the envelope? Are they all the same? Oh, we can’t send it this way, let’s go back to the original method. Check the manuals. Call the manager. Call head office. Absolutely crazy! I finally got the thing sent then got a call 15 minutes later telling me there was a problem and could I return. I did and they said they needed to refund me and charge me again – no idea why. Of course the refund couldn’t be made for some reason so another 30 minute wait for them to check the manuals again, call the manager again, call head office again and call tech support only for them to finally decide that as the cost was the same a refund wasn’t necessary after all.
A total waste of time and Japanese bureaucracy at its finest.
its not a complaint but i said something insensitive by accident to my husband and he gave me the cold shoulder. he only told me what happened when i.asked and said he wants divorce! and wants me to go back to my own country (how cruel) i was angry and shocked and theres no one to say this to because my friends are busy and my sibling and family and i are not close anymore..
not sure what to do but i am just hoping he said out of anger but i feel i need another plan just in case…
Another celebrity arrested for weed. Dead horse, I know, but this country needs weed more than I do
Typhoon on my birthday nice!🤦🏽♂️🥺
Fishing is a no go this week!
“Please fax the order to me.”
“Please email me to verify that the fax with the order has arrived.”
*Sends an email and asks: “Isn’t it faster to scan the order and email it?”*
“Faxing is more likely and secure to be received.”
…
Wall paper, why the hell is it EVERYWHERE in my house? It’s the textual BS that if anything gets into a small crack it’s impossible to clean.
“It LoOkS bEtTeR tHaN pAiNt” no it doesn’t, it looks cheap and tacky.
Damn Ojisan at HottoMotto
I went to get some dinner with my kid, when returning to the car, it was only my car parked.
placing a 2 yearold in a childseat takes time and I had to fully open the door blocking 1 of the parking spaces.
As I was putting my kids in the seat, this asshole ojisan came screeching onto the parking lot, lo and behold he had to park right where the door was open.
he blared the horn abd picked a fight. “何だ外国人だ、早くしろボケ” he said. So I got agitated, and returned the favor with vulgar Japanese including rolling Rs, “コノヤロー他のところあるんじゃねーか、失せろ!” on which Ojisan stepped out of the car realizing he was smaller than I as I made myself bigger assuming a boxing pose to prepare for the worst.
suddenly he apologized and parked in another open spot.
I don’t get ojisans way of thinking, if you sell a fight you can’t win, don’t sell it in the first place!
was taking a picture of the menu at a street yakitori to translate it and the owner yelled “No photo”. I complied and tried to explian I wanted to translate, but he started yelling louder “no! No! NO! NOOOO!”. walked away and ate a delicious sushi ten steps away at a pleasant place.
My confidence in Japanese is not good enough to talk to ANY of the pretty girls I come across 😭
Tried running at a slower pace the other day, and I guess I ended up not running on the balls of my feet and my heels intead(?), or just poor running posture in general. My shit got fucking rocked. My heels and knees hurt so bad. Getting old sucks, feel like every phsyical exercise I do needs to be dialed in just right or I’m going to pay for it.
I was waiting in line for my train to stop and open up, when the guy in front of me decides to step right in front the still unopened doors. He was tall and broad, and just stared down some ancient old man in glasses, grinning the whole time as the jiji has to sideways slide out of the door. I managed to call him an asshole in English, but mentally tripping over wanting to say: “Don’t be a c*nt” in Japanese.
Been getting some crazy moments of vertigo since yesterday. Sometimes feels like someone is putting their fingers in my brain and trying to shake it around.
A nearby bridge I drive over daily was repaved earlier this year. On the main section, the asphalt has all kinds of massive divots and bumps in it now. It looks like a obstacle course with all the cones they added but while it is very dangerous, they don’t seem to be in a hurry to re-re-fix the actual roadway. I’m genuinely curious if the city has any liability for any damage/accidents it causes.
It industry employment requires you to speak business Japanese to be hired.
But the team does not speak Japanese…. And it’s international company…
Found out that one of my favorite trousers had a small hole on the crotch area from the stitch coming undone, might be because I use it to bicycle from time to time. Man 🙁
We moved here because we wanted “real” summers. I didn’t realize that “real” in Japan ment hellish!
The new Smore ice cream at Family Mart is very disappointing.
Due to a series of circumstances, one of my Japanese vendors got pulled into an English-based email chain, and referenced me with “-sama”, as in, “once we get approval from poop-sama…”
As soon as I read it, I recoiled in horror and cringed in physical pain for like 10 minutes afterwards.
Ordering a new car takes so long.
This applies in any country, but I’m totally ready for the upgrade. 🫠
Too many obese tourists in Japan lately, honestly they just do t fit the facilities …there should be measurements scale for shops and public transport ..
Well, summer is over in Japan. According to stores anyways. The shorts and shirts, are no longer on display, the coats, sweaters, and jackets are out now. That seems ridiculous enough already given the temperatures…..but not as ridiculous as the supermarkets themselves starting to roll out products and promotions for autumn and colder month items such as nabe soups.
I quit my 派遣 company in August since they informed that they weren’t going to renew my contract after August. Now, I received a letter from the company demanding that I pay them as compensation for not working out my remaining shifts.
I’ve read through threads on similar situations and I thought that companies rarely ever attempt litigation against someone for quitting because the cost isn’t worth it. I’m leaning towards not paying but I’m still tired of dealing with this company.
Got a back spasm going since yesterday so everything just kinda sucks…
Have had vertigo the last few months every time my sinuses are full.
I actually had to cancel a few classes today when my allergies kicked in and I looked up at the clock on the wall and nearly ralphed.
This is more of an anti-complaint (or something): I ordered Uber eats and when my missus does it they never check her name or phone number. Today I ordered it and the guy checked that my number and name matched my order. I went inside and complained to her how it was only because I’m gaijin. A few hours later as I’m paying this guy’s tip online it hits me: hell, I’m not Japanese, I’m American, I’m actually the exact profile of person who would pull some funny stuff. He probably should be double checking me as opposed to the Japanese people who actually have a culture of following the rules. So I gave the guy a good review and a good tip.
