I've been busy, but I wanted to share my experience for anyone whose thought of getting their drivers license. On your initial meeting (assuming you've paid for the course, got the briefing) you'll get your vision tested and will receive your ID. Their language options (from what I can remember) are Japanese, English, and partial Japanese, with English being the most expensive option.
You'll be taking classroom lessons and driving lessons. The amount of lessons you have is entirely dependent on your availability. The more available you are, the more lessons you can take which will result in completing the course faster. For me, it took two months. (Started late April and finished Late June) Two weeks out of the those two months was me waiting for my second month's schedule.
Most of your classroom lessons are videos for you to watch. Your driving lessons will be on the course that they have available for you. The instructor will usually drive first while you're in the passenger seat and explain what the lesson will be about, and then swap places with you once they're done explaining. Your toughest challenges will probably be the L shape course, S shape course, and parallel parking.
You'll take the first driving exam on the course with a random instructor within the school, then take the 50 question exam. The English was pretty bad but if you do enough practice tests you'll remember what the right answer will be. Their website provides a page for you to take practice exams which I've used, however, I find the paper practice exams that the school provides to have more accurate answers then their website.
The second driving exam will be done with a random instructor from the school, but it will on the road and not on the course. You'll need to parallel park at some point. Once you've passed the second driving exam you will be given your graduation documents which you will take to the driving center that is closest to you. (For me it was Fuchu driving center). Setup an appointment, bring your graduation document and your Juminhyo (don't forget Juminhyo, lady yelled at me told me to fuck off).
100 question exam at the driving center. Koyama's website will have practice exams for the 100 question exams as well. I also used the practice exams that the driving center provides. You'll be seated in a classroom of over 100+ people. A police officer will explain things to you, test will be taken, and at the end of the test a a TV screen will display the participants who passed and failed. You'll know because you will be assigned a seat number. If your seat number shows up on the TY screen, the congrats, you've passed. If it didn't show up, study a bit more and try again.
