Recently switched back to AU and during the 5 hour waterboarding session of signing up, my wife and I got an AU Pay card for more discounts/rebates.
During the sign up for everything, they had (unsurprisingly) archaic data entry rules that refused the length of my full name and no way around their automatic romaji-fication of my name.
The cards finally arrived and on the reverse, our names are written in the ridiculous romaji style that doesn’t match how our names are printed anywhere else, particularly mine. Every other credit card I have shows my name in English as I write it, but I couldn’t even submit my name in English due to their data entry limitations.
So may questions are: Has anyone else experienced this? And, if so, does it even matter?
Honestly I’m not planning on using the card for anything other than to pay off the AU bill every month. I have a main card and a card for emergencies, so the AU one is simply for the discounts on their service. So even if it typically might cause issues, I’m not sure if it would even be worth the trouble of trying to change it to actual English (if that’s even possible in their system).
I just want to see if anyone else might have some experience with this and if you know the best course of action.
