When I wanna get some chopsticks to eat something, I just wanna reach in the chopstick section and grab whatever. I don't wanna search around for my personal set like Japanese people do. Am I the only person who hates this.
In my house, I have 6 sets of the same chopsticks. All you have to do is reach in and grab 2 of any in there, just like the forks, spoons, etc. Easy! Plus, sometimes I am just fucking tired and don't do the dishes for lunch, and then wanna have a snack or dinner, and if I only have one pair of "my chopsticks" I have to go and wash them. Annoying!
I think Japanese people have a neurotic obsession with cleanliness and somehow view chopsticks that someone else put in their mouth as dirty and thus must have their "own". This is illogical for obvious reasons, but also due to the fact that this rule doesn't apply to other utensils. I also hear nonsense excuses about wanting to have one's own cute design, etc., but come on. Who the hell cares? Once you have a family of 4, sifting through 6 other chopsticks to find your own personal pair is just an annoying chore each and every time you wanna have something to eat.
Just me???
