Language school help

I have contacted more than 20 language schools in tokyo in the last 10 days and only 4-5 responded where they either were either full for the whole 2026, or required a contact person in japan or an agent. I have contacted the rest again and again but no response. Right now I can only go to ISI through an agent which is in the capital city pretty far away and the agent fee is high. Can anyone please guide me on how I can approach this. Getting into a language school is looking harder than harvard now lol. I have N5, appearing for the upcoming N4 and a masters. Any help would be much appreciated. Otherwise I will be applying for ISI.
(Btw I’m contacting them through the contact form on their website)

  1. As you can imagine, most people attending language school are starting at the elementary level as well. That’s why it’s full.

I’d suggest keep searching for schools, or to improve your Japanese skill yourself to at least put you in the N3 classes.

  2. I am in no way affiliated, I just used them:

Just go through gogonihon.com . While it doesn’t quite have the wide variety of schools looking yourself would give you, they do most of the work for you, and it’s free. No agent fees, tuition costs the same as it would going directly through the school.

  3. Not sure if it’s any help but some people cancel their trip. I had asked a school in May 2025 for October 2025 and they say they were full. 2 weeks later they write to me asking if I was still interested.  Not sure if you want to play this game but it happens often that new spots open up

  4. I contacted ISI directly through their Spanish website. Just a few hours later, an agent from the school emailed me and even sent me a WhatsApp message asking about my situation and where I wanted to study. They sent me all the information, and three days later I submitted all my documents. The agent reviewed them within an hour and sent me the invoice for the COE process. Everything was really fast. I’m applying for the April course in Osaka. I recommend reaching out to them through the contact form on their English website. Going through an agency is also possible, but they usually take a long time to reply and try to push their own Japanese courses
