High end sushi for solo diner (Tokyo)

Hi everyone,

I am going to Japan in a few weeks for just under 3 weeks. Most of our trip will be spent in Tokyo. I have been many times, over 20+, and at least once per trip I eat a high end sushi restaurant with my wife.

This time it is not possible since my wife is in her early second trimester of pregnancy. I understand Japanese women may still eat sushi during pregnancy, especially from high quality restaurants, but we are not willing to do this.

I would like to still have a nice sushi restaurant. I won’t be abandoning my wife since she will be visiting her mother, extended family and friends and has encouraged me to get some good sushi at least once during this trip. Unfortunately most of our top favourites do not seem to accept solo diners which is understandable.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a high end sushi that takes solo diners? No need to rely on web booking sites/apps since we can easily make some calls. I recognize many of the best restaurants would require a reservation further in advance than I am able.

Lunch or dinner, does not matter, and no budget; usually spend ¥30,000 – ¥50,000 per person for this type of meal. Does not need to have Michelin stars. Ideally a tabelog rating of at least 3.5 but as close to 4 or above if possible.

Thanks so much for your help.
