My friend and I are doing a trip to Japan in early November. We are planning to do some hiking from ~Nov. 5-7. We were really hoping to do a hut-to-hut option but it sounds like that will be a bit tricky that late in the season. We're both competent hikers but we won't be equipped for overnight camping. We're considering the following options and would love your opinion:

just pick a base camp somewhere (potentially Kamakochi) and do long day hikes. Any recommendations on where we should go/any hotel recommendations?

HIking in the Yatsugatake mountain area and doing a hut-to-hut hike there.

Doing a pilgrimage hike in Kumano Kodo . We'd likely do a portion of the Nakahechi route if we were to do that. Thanks for your input!
