First time travelling to Japan in November

Heyy Guys,

I am visiting Japan for the first time in 7th Nov to 18th Nov. I have always been intrigued by Japanese Culture and its people. While Tokyo – Kyoto – Osaka golden route is recommended for the first timers, I want to avoid crowded places and maybe visit lesser touristy places.

For Context, I am vegetarian. Dairy is fine but I dont eat egg or meat. and while I have local driving license, I dont have plan to rent a bike or car. so public transport such as bus and trains are my only mode of transportation. also I would say I know N5 level Japanese. I can read hiragana and katakana and understand basic phrases.

So far, all the tips and advice I have asked to people has been 50-50. As few people say that visiting Kyoto Osaka is worth it. you just have to time the visiting hours to avoid crowds and enjoy the attractions. While others say that visiting places such as Kanazawa, Nikko or Nagano is better as they are less touristy compared to Kyoto Osaka and offer almost same beautiful cultural experience and chance to interact with locals.

A few people also mentioned that as I go more and more rural, chances of me getting reliable transport and veg food goes down. but other people say that Shojin ryori (traditional Japanese Buddhist cuisine) is pure veg and would be available in rural areas.

So what would you guys recommend? What are tips to make the best of the trip while experiencing the beautiful country?

Thanks a lot in advance.
