I’ve been wondering about studying Japanese and kanji. I saw a video saying that writing kanji by hand isn’t that important nowadays since most people just type, read, and speak… also for JLPT N5 or N4, you don’t even need to write them, only recognize and read. Do you think it’s okay to mainly focus on listening and speaking well, plus recognizing kanji, but not really practicing handwriting? Or is handwriting still important for memory and real-life situations? I’d love to hear other learners’ and natives’ opinions.
