I love a good thunderstorm.
Let me remind you that we suffered 30 degrees + since the end of May and today it is finally cooling down. People should be outside, celebrating in the streets, throwing strings of beads like in New Orleans, partying in front of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in a parade, dancing on Mardi Gras floats with giant figures of Yuriko Koike.
I have a lab visit for a lab I hope to go to graduate school with next year. A big change of pace from the ALT life but I hope it works out.
EDIT: it went really well. Looks like I will have a new career path come April 😀
My school’s undoukai was yesterday and because of all the cloud cover/occasional showers the temperature was so much cooler than it usually is during this event. As a result basically no one got heatstroke. Usually tens of students collapse throughout the day and some get sent to hospital. But yesterday? It was so nice to not see students lying on the floor like they’re dying or something.
1. company director in charge of my department must have taken pity on my suffering this week, because, long story short, he paid for Black Thunder cakes for me and my coworkers. yay! Black Thunder cake will soon be in my mouth!!
2. partner’s parents know that I loooove sweet potatoes and gave me a big bag of them that they grew. partner’s father lectured me on the best way to cook them (160 degrees for 90 minutes – apparently he spent several weeks researching this. gotta love jijis with too much time on their hands in this particular case). looking forward to having a lovely sweet potato-smelling apartment this weekend.
I’m back after 10 days in China (+ travel days) . It was nice and all, the event I was in went well, but I’d rather be at home with my family 👍
the hyogo run has ended now, but takarazuka’s production of guys and dolls was amazing. i feel so lucky that i can see a show that is so high quality for the price of takarazuka tickets, which are generally pretty reasonable for how much entertainment you get.
I got my first compliment on my new luxury watch. Most people really do not care about watches so I was glad to get a compliment.
A fellow smoker silently bumped my hip
Eh?
He pointed to my Hanshin tigers charm and we did a fist bump.
