Just wanted to share a wholesome interaction I had today cause it truly made my day
About a year in since moving to Japan, 11 months in my current place, and there's a shop 3 minutes walk away that I often go to, mostly for lunch
Not gonna lie, the food isn't that great, nor the cheapest around but I keep coming back just because of one of the clerks. An older lady (most of the workers in the shop are elderly), and she's always brimming with energy, and her smile just calms me down, especially coming from work.
Never really talked much, other than simple greetings and some small talk at the register, but today I asked for help using the water heater (I can speak in japanese, but can't read, so I didn't know which button does what) for my cup ramen. After finishing my meal, she called me inside and hit me up with "アイス食べる?" And told me to choose whichever, on the house. Ended up picking gari gari Kun and ate it on my way back to work.
Idk it's not much, not really an interesting story I guess, but I'm just so happy I wanted to share
