12-Day Wheelchair-Friendly Itinerary, Looking for Feedback

Hi everyone, this is our draft itinerary for Japan (Oct 29 – Nov 9, 2025). It’s our first trip, and we’re trying to balance culture, history, modern sights, nature, and a little bit of anime/sci-fi, while keeping things wheelchair accessible.

We’ve skipped theme parks since they’re not our thing anymore. Accommodations aren’t booked yet; we’re waiting to confirm accessibility. Looking at this plan, it might be a bit much, so I’d love feedback on whether the pace is manageable, what area to stay in, and if there are better accessible alternatives.

Here’s the outline:

  • Oct 29 (Wed) – Arrive Narita u/18:15 → Train to hotel. If energetic, explore area/grab food.
  • Oct 30 (Thu) – Tokyo: Sensō-ji Temple & Nakamise Street, Tokyo Skytree & Solamachi Mall.
  • Oct 31 (Fri) – Tokyo: Meiji Shrine, Takeshita Street, Shibuya Scramble Crossing, Shinjuku.
  • Nov 1 (Sat) – Kamakura: Great Buddha, Hase-dera Temple.
  • Nov 2 (Sun) – Yokohama (unalterable day): Minato Mirai, Queen’s Square, then Mariah Carey concert at K-Arena.
  • Nov 3 (Mon) – Tokyo: Ueno Park & Museums, TeamLab Planets/Borderless.
  • Nov 4 (Tue) – Shinkansen to Osaka → Evening in Dotonbori.
  • Nov 5 (Wed) – Osaka: Osaka Castle & Park.
  • Nov 6 (Thu) – Kyoto (day trip): Fushimi Inari, Gion, Nishiki Market.
  • Nov 7 (Fri) – Nara (day trip): Todai-ji Temple, Nara Park, Kasuga Taisha Shrine.
  • Nov 8 (Sat) – Free Day: Namba Yasaka Shrine, Dotonbori.
  • Nov 9 (Sun) – Osaka: Cup Noodle Museum in the morning → Kansai Airport for 21:25 flight.

Maybe you’ve already seen that both Teamlabs offer a half price disability discount, since not all the artworks are accessible.  I’ve only been to Planets, so for example in the Water section, there are rooms that are fine for a wheelchair but you pass through non-accessible rooms to get there (like a steep ramp flowing with water or a room shin deep in water, or a lumpy floor room). I don’t know if they have another route for you or if you have to skip the whole section. I assume they can get you through since you can exit at any point, but it might be good to understand what they have to offer before you go.

    Also, Nov. 3 is a holiday, so some places might be busier than usual or closed.
