The title says it, in Japanese it’s called “使用停止処分（40日）”. My car in Tokyo has just been put under a 40 day use suspension. The violation? Over the course of 1 year – I had 3 parking tickets where I paid late. The initial notices came in the mail while I was away for work and they required payment within a week. Since I couldn’t pay within a week I had to wait for the next notice to pay. I didn’t know it would come down to this.
They had the court hearing already. Police told me I could write a plea statement but they said it will likely not have any influence. They even said I didn’t need to show up since the 40 day sentence is fixed.
The police are coming next week to sticker my car. They said I can park it away from home if I want but no one can drive the car for 40 days under any circumstances, otherwise they may face a fine of 500,000 yen and or a 3 month jail term.
Can anyone recommend where I can park it in Tokyo metropolitan area for say 20,000 or less? I know Narita airport is around this price but I’m not sure the Tokyo police will go all the way to Chiba… I plan to keep using my car park spot with a rental car in my mansion as I need to drive daily for family and work reasons.
