I often park using the paid parking area for my local station and over time there’s been damages occurring while it’s parked there. Scratches and things are to be expected, I don’t care at all about that. But recently the damage is getting worse. The grips of my handle bars are getting ripped off, specifically on the ends it’s basically gone now. Last week my air nozzle was broken and inner tube punctured. Today someone put their kickstand between my spokes.
Let me be clear I don’t think I’m being targeted or anything. I truly think a lot of people are just in a rush and shoving their giant mamacharis into a space while on the way to work. However I was considering getting new handlebars since these ones are really getting dinged up badly. My fear is that I’ll get the new handlebars, and in a week’s time they’re torn up just like the old ones. Obviously there’s always a risk when using public parking but is there anything I could do if some serious damage happens?
Also is there any etiquette about slightly shifting bikes ? I was trying to unlock my bike one day and a giant mamachari was fully leaned against my bike, with their basket and handlebars basically on top of mine, making it also almost impossible to get out. Obviously I’m trying to be gentle as it’s not my property but an old man came up to me and scolded me??? Perhaps he was just being a grumpy dickhead but what would be the proper course of action if I was in the wrong ??
