Last night in Nishi Ward, Saitama City, a junior high school girl who was crossing at a pedestrian crosswalk was hit by a van and killed.
At around 7:00 PM yesterday, on a prefectural road in Mizuhando, Nishi Ward, Saitama City, Hinako Miyahara (15), a local junior high school student, was walking across the crosswalk when she was struck by a van making a right turn at the intersection. She died as a result of the collision.
According to police, the pedestrian signal was green at the time of the accident.
Police arrested Shigemi Narita (47), a resident of Ōmiya Ward who was driving the van, on the spot on suspicion of negligent driving resulting in injury. He has admitted to the charges during questioning.
Authorities have since upgraded the charge to negligent driving resulting in death, and are conducting a detailed investigation into the cause of the accident.
Trucks can be bad sometimes, but those vans drive completely crazy. Sometimes they just go like 160 on the expressway. What is it with reckless van drivers?
How long a shadow does this accident cast?
Sad, I guess isekais has some things base on reality
Damn… That poor girl. I can’t imagine how devastated her family must be.
I tell me kids to always double check, even if they have the right to go. Some people just don’t pay enough attention behind the wheel. I also had several experiences with drivers ignoring their red here, so now I always look carefully when it’s green for me. Never run when it’s about to be red. Not worth it.
young promising life taken away just like that. Probably get a slap on the wrist. Need to upgrade to manslaughter to discourage shitty driving.
Sometimes you just have to hate the law. He should be charged with first degree murder!
Omiya probably has the worst roads (and drivers) around Tokyo.
