Im a 10+ year dev and as much as I love my current job (I wouldn't leave it if i was able to get residency out there while keeping it), i honestly love Japan to the point where I'm open to taking a huge pay cut just to move out there.
I have a few interviews lined up already but of course I'm worried about primarily the lifestyle of the position. I currently work full time remote and am only open to another position that is the same (such as the ones i have lined up). However, I have no insight on anything related to working for a company in japan as a developer (only that working for japanese companies is less ideal).
The companies I'm looking at are, I believe, smaller japanese owned ones, or at least the teams are small. Im wondering how to go about determining what the lifestyle at the company is – is it generally ok to just outright ask the people doing the interview? I imagine a full remote position would mean the work-life balance is typically better than something in office could be, but is there anyone with experience in working for a japanese dev company remote that could detail the experience?
