I’ve been thinking a lot about how New Japan could shake up the factions and the easiest way in my opinion would be to break up UE
Mainly because out of all the groups right now they are the only ones who don’t really seem to have purpose. I mean hell they still don’t have a clear leader. I feel like this is part of the reason why they have felt lifeless because obviously ospreay leaving left a massive void that was never truly filled.
Even just looking at the guys in the group it feels like they are a far cry from where they were.
GOK is great but unfortunately I don’t think he is ever going to be pushed very far.
Newman has shown glimpses of greatness but is still young and not quite at that top heavyweight level
Jacob Austin young I find very bland and boring tbh
Akira is probably the one who I think has the most potential in the group but now with tjp gone and him seemingly being purely a singles guy now I feel like he could benefit the most from breaking away
Templario is good as well but is rarely on New Japan shows to the point where it’s easy to forget he’s even apart of the group
And with Cobb gone and Henare out for the foreseeable future I feel like it is time to end the group or do a massive overhaul and appoint a true leader

Bro HENARE has been out almost a year now, I hope he’s not out for a long time still
That being said yeah, United Empire was a faction thought and made for Will Ospreay, and once he left they stopped making sense. The only thing keeping them together is the hope that Callum Newman joins Bullet Club, which means UE are needed as a unit he turns heel against to join a set of rivals
Who’s TJP gonna be the boss of, then?
It really is baffling to me how New Japan refuses to disband factions that no longer serve a purpose. You have guys teaming together forever just because, often with no leader, direction, or gimmick.
And before anyone brings up merch, every time Dragon Gate rebrands or forms a new faction (which happens 2-3 times per year to keep things fresh), there’s always a boost to merch sales as fans go out to buy the new stuff.
Didn’t they just merge them into hontai
I understand why one would say this. I also don’t agree. I think UE is fine as a foreign good guy stable to counrer the more middle of the road BC and am not sure if the overall value in disbanding just to all get put in hontai. That and I don’t think every stable needs to be a world beater. Certainlh better than their origin as “Guys who say crazy shit on social media for will to hang with”
UE could’ve worked post-Ospreay had they given the faction to GOK. If the reports of him not wanting that role are true then I understand but the weird “Captain” story with TJP was not the answer.
They set up Umino having ties to UE/Ospreay before he left but that went nowhere. They could’ve revived that with the GOK/Umino feud earlier this year but that also didn’t really go anywhere. GOK’s fun G1 Climax 34 run was another chance they had at fixing it.
It felt like every time they had the chance to course correct with UE they simply just opted not to.
Disbanding the faction seems like the only option at this point unless GOK or someone creates a new faction out of the remnants of UE. Preferably, I’d love for Newman to join BULLET CLUB (but I’d like a split from War Dogs) and GOK founds a new faction with others and they call it something else (similarly to how Nakamura created RISE and CHAOS).
Templario is never really there anyway and can just rep CMLL when he does. TJP is basically only on the US shows and JAY is just used as a pin-eater. HENARE is sadly still out but it’d be interesting to see what faction he’d join when comes back.
I’ve been saying it for a long time. GOK needs to turn into a monster heel and reform UE into his own image. Just go utterly batshit. He doesn’t even need to change his look or his gimmick, just turn everything up to 11, take over the unit, and become utter psychopaths.
