Two 17-year-old boys were arrested for making false emergency calls that disrupted police operations in what they reportedly called “Patonige,” a slang among their friends for fleeing from police cars for thrills.
The pair, described as one self-identified company employee and one unemployed, falsely reported to the Toyohashi Police Station in Aichi Prefecture on the 10th of last month that “five or six young people are revving motorcycles.” This led to a police dispatch under suspicion of obstructing official duties through deceit.
According to the police, the boys admitted to making false reports to experience the excitement of evading police cars. During one such incident, the unemployed boy crashed a moped while trying to escape, leading to his immediate arrest.
