I'm currently planning a trip, arriving Feb 13th and leaving March 2nd, as a solo 34M, my first time going to Japan. The trip is motivated and bookended by anime concerts, but I'd like to make good use of my time in between. Since the concerts are in Tokyo and then in Yokohama, I want to keep my home base around that area, so no Kyoto or Osaka for instance. Would like to do a good amount but not be too rushed as I can see myself getting overwhelmed. I'm not a big night owl or for bar hopping or the like. I do want to see some excellent sights without going too far afield.
I've done some investigation and just want a basic idea of where I might be on what days, so I can plan accommodations and such. A lot of the specifics here can move around, and a lot of these don't have any particular specifics yet as much as they're just places I think I can find things to do in. Over the next few months I'll refine it a bit more, but I need a starting point. So does the following itinerary, in a general sense and not focusing that much on specific attractions, seem sensible? Are there fundamental flaws I need to address that I'm overlooking?
Feb 13th: Arrive Haneda early evening, go to hotel in probably-Shinjuku.
Feb 14th: Asakusa (Senso-ji, etc), Tokyo Skytree, back to Shinjuku to walk around Shinjuku Gyoen.
Feb 15th: teamLab Planets, Odaiba, Ariake. Tokyo Garden Theater concert in the evening
Feb 16th: Shibuya shopping, Shibuya Scramble, Hachiko, Shibuya Hikarie rooftop, evening Shimokitazawa, Shelter live house.
Feb 17th: Eat at Tsukiji Outer Market. Shopping in Ginza. Tour Imperial Palace East Gardens
Feb 18th: Ikebukuro+Sunshine City, shopping, evening Shinjuku LOFT live house.
Feb 19th: Ghibli Museum, Edo Open Air Architectural Museum. I know getting tickets for Ghibli can be finnicky so this day can move around.
Feb 20th: Akihabara for anime goods, Ueno Park
Feb 21st: Hakone loop, overnight in Gora.
Feb 22nd: Hakone Open-Air Museum, rest of Hakone loop.
Feb 23rd: Shinkansen to Nagoya for another concert. Tentative. Day trip if I can manage it. With the rest of the day, I think I could potentially see Inuyama Castle as the best use of time.
Feb 24th: Take the Nikko bus tour. See Toshogu Shrine, Kegon Falls, Lake Chuzenji. I think a more involved trip would not be feasible for this one so I'll settle for the guided tour.
Feb 25th: Enoshima first, see the coasts, Enoshima Sea Candle, get food, then to Kamakura to see the Hasedera and the Kotoku-in Buddha. I imagine this is the most rushed day.
Feb 26th: Go to Odawara. Plum blossom festival. Odawara Castle. Odawara to Kawazu. Stay overnight.
Feb 27th: Cherry blossoms. Seven Waterfalls. Back to Tokyo.
Feb 28th: All day in Yokohama, can look around some early but K-Arena Yokohama concert starts early afternoon.
Mar 1st: More Yokohama. See Yamate Seiyoukan area, Sankeien Garden, Yokohama Chinatown. K-Arena Yokohama concert in the evening.
Mar 2nd: Chill day doing any leftovers, depart from Haneda in the early evening.
Was also wondering about whether to change hotels, especially for Yokohama, since the last week is more around that area. With how things are right now and the two overnight trips, it seems like I would be fine keeping my base in Tokyo.
