Family Trip to Sapporo (2 Teens, First Snow) – Itinerary + Questions

Hi everyone! πŸ‘‹

This year we’re heading to Sapporo with our two teenage sons. It’s our family’s first time experiencing snow, so I put together a provisional itinerary but still need advice on a few things before locking it in.

πŸ‘‰ Here’s the draft so far:

  • Day 1 – Arrival, check-in, light walk around Odori Park
  • Day 2 – Okurayama Ski Jump + Winter Sports Museum / Takino Suzuran Hillside Park
  • Day 3 – Ski lessons at Sapporo Teine
  • Day 4 – Otaru day trip
  • Day 5 – Kiroro Ski Resort
  • Day 6 – Asahiyama Zoo + Blue Pond (worth the effort in this season?)
  • Day 7 – Tanukikoji / Nijo Market / Mitsui Outlet Park / Jozankei Onsen
  • Day 8 – Free day: maybe Lake Shikotsu, Science Center, or Moerenuma Park activities
  • Day 9 – Departure

πŸ’‘ A few things I’d love advice on:

  • For first-time snow travelers, are we pacing this too lightly or too heavily?
  • Without driving, are trips like Asahiyama Zoo or Lake Shikotsu realistic?
  • For teenagers, which activities would be the most fun/memorable?
  • Do family-friendly onsens like Jozankei allow teens to join?

I’m also open to suggestions if there are other unique experiences in/around Sapporo that first-timers often miss.

Thanks so much in advance! πŸ™
