Staying in a furnished apartment temporarily – how long?

Hi all,

Moving to Tokyo in January from Europe and looking to get some ideas on how to settle in an apartment.

From what I've gathered a good option seems to be staying in a furnished apartment temporarily, and then looking for a long-term rental.
How long would it be needed to stay in the temporary apartment to get the initial stuff that requires an address (plus finding an apartment), 1 month, 2 months?
