My spouse visa expires this weekend. A month ago, I applied for a visa extension using the online system, and the status of it has been 審査中 to this day. Of course, I made a slip up and forgot to include one of my city hall documents to the application PDF and considering you can’t edit it or make changes after submitting… yeah. I sent them that supplementary document by snail mail as recommended by immigration support.
I’ve tried calling immigration (Tokyo) itself to get an update on if I need to visit in person or something, but was unable to get through… until today. It just took about 50 tries a day.
I was met with a lethargic aisatsu and I told the girl the situation. She sounded very unsure but said it was probably fine if the visa expires if I have an application in process. As far as my my number card goes which expires on the same day, she just said the equivalent of “uhh like I can like tell my manager to help expedite the process…”
Does anyone know if I can just rest easy while I wait for an update from immigration (by email apparently) or should I try making it over there (that will be a huge pain in the ass but whatever) tomorrow?
