  1. I don’t think she will last too long. Since the government cannot do much about inflation and helping people, going after us is the only thing they can do to be relevant. Sad state of affairs. Also, Somali is a drop in a bucket. Nobody remembers the guy.

  2. That’s not how it works though.

The people do not elect the PM in Japan, the ruling party does, often selecting the party leader.

The voters contribute to the process by giving one of the parties, usually the LDP, a majority. And that majority then chooses the PM.

To be sure, when the ruling party or coalition selects the next PM, their popularity with the people, which effects their longevity in office at least slightly, is a consideration. But it’s not a major consideration.

The selection of Takaichi at this time is 99% due to a return to power of the Abe faction within the LDP after it took a hit over Abe’s assassination a few years ago.

Takaichi has been considered a hopeful for the PM slot for years, and it’s simply her turn.

  3. “Redditor lets Johnny Somali crash at his place” is like the third domino of that chain.

  4. The US has its own fun version of this.

Small domino: Anthony Weiner sexts a teenager

Large domino: Bankrupt reality TV star ends American democracy

  5. Lol Johnny Somali, we all know when our timeline became the worst.

  6. I like Japanese not embracing and getting destroyed by baka gaijins, but being racist is not cool, I’m looking at the guy who harasses Chinese tourists in Nara and took a dump in 2020
