Looking for recommendations and advice, and to share my experience!
My friend and I both used Japan Visa Support to apply for PR, and I would not recommend them. The fee for their "low priced plan" is only 70,000 yen, but any time something extra was needed, there were additional fees (e.g. 20,000 yen to submit additional documents requested by Immigration). They often weren't able to give clear answers to our questions.
I was approved, but my friend was denied, even though she meets all requirements–it seems like the lawyer must have missed something about her case so Immigration didn't feel they had sufficient proof of her tax payments, but the lawyer hasn't given us a clear answer as to why. They also have no guarantee upon denial, so to re-apply through them she would have to pay an additional 132,000 yen.
We've been talking to other law offices that seem to have better service for her re-application. Does anyone have experience with these?
Ishinagi Administrative Scrivener Office: Very helpful and responsive via email. Located in Osaka so we would need to do more visits to Immigration on our own. Has a guarantee (will support re-application if you're denied).
SAMURAI Immigration Law Firm: Did a free consultation call with them and they also seemed knowledgable. A bit more expensive but also has a guarantee.
