Hello! I am a 21 year old undergraduate humanities student, and I want to move to Japan next year. I am applying for the JET program this year, however, people from my country who become JETs r much older and experienced in me. They either have undergraduate degrees in japanese, have many years of teaching experience or have worked in japanese companies (there’s insane levels of unemployment so everyone is overqualified for starting level jobs).
So, i’m thinking of moving to japan for japanese language school, after which i could apply for scholarships to study in Japan for my masters or law or just apply to be an ALT. My boyfriend of three years also lives in Japan so I would not have to pay rent and would have support. Is my plan feasible?

The odds of you getting placed close enough to live with your boyfriend are very, very small. I wouldn’t count on it.
