Job hunting in Tokyo

Hi all,
I’m currently job hunting after having been with my current company for over a decade. I moved from the Europe office to Japan HQ in 2016, and now I really want to try something new, as growth opportunities have become quite limited.
I’m in my early 40s, with extensive experience in my field, a strong business network, an N1 certification, and fluency in some others European languages.

However, every time I approach a headhunter,or they approach me,they end up suggesting positions that are not even at the same level as my current one, but significantly lower.

The last straw was with JAC Recruitment: they invited me to interview with a company I was interested in, but after scheduling the interview, they informed me that the salary range was 20% lower than what I currently earn and the position is for someone with 5-6 years of experience.

Is this normal? Or do they assume, because I’m a woman, that I’m not looking to advance my career or salary?
Any advice in how or where to get better offers would be greatly appreciated.
