Looking for more Industrialized or ‘rough’ places to visit?

I'm going back to Japan for the first time for almost ten years in a couple of weeks.

I'm a photographer, and really like to capture the vibe of real living places, and preferably those that are a bit rough around the edges. Places like transportation hubs, industrialized areas, harbours etc.

Last time I really enjoyed the old Tsujiki fish market, but that doesn't exist in the old cool form anymore.

So does anyone have any tips on areas to visit on in the vicinity of the "golden route" (Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto).
