Between January and June 2025, 200 companies relocated their headquarters to Tokyo metropolitan area, the highest number in the past 10 years. The number of companies that moved out from the Tokyo metropolitan area was 150, a decrease from the previous year. In all, there was a net total of 50 companies moving in to Tokyo metropolitan area.
There is a noticeable trend of small and medium-sized enterprises moving their headquarters to the Tokyo metropolitan area in search of better business opportunities.
The largest number of companies moving out was the service industry while service industry companies was also the highest for those moving into Tokyo metropolitan area.
