LDP request to refrain from responding to LDP presidential election survey because it may affect voting behavior

The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Presidential Election Management Committee issued a notice on the 12th requesting party members of the Diet to refrain from responding to presidential election-related surveys conducted by the media and other organizations. The reason given was "to ensure fair and impartial operation, as there is an extremely high possibility that such surveys will influence voting behavior." When asked by reporters on the 17th about his true intentions, Chairman Ichiro Aizawa stated that he has no intention of forcing members not to respond and would leave it up to the individual members of parliament to make the final decision on whether or not to respond.
