I can't apply for an ESTA to the US for a family visit because of a criminal record. So, I've got to interview for a B-2 visa.
My question is pretty specific, but does anyone know if I need to get a certified English translation of my criminal records? Or can I do the translation myself?
It's 140,000 yen, cuz I need it soon. (Would be 100,000 regardless, wtf). So there's a lot at stake.
Embassy website said translation is needed, but didn't specify that it needs to be official. This is my only chance to make it there for Christmas, so I don't want to mess it up, but damn, don't want to get price gouged, either.
Any experience or expertise would be greatly appreciated.
