I have never been to a listening bar before, but I like the idea of going somewhere that plays curated music set lists through good quality gear.
But the issue is that I don't think it'd be that fun (for me personally) if the policy is one of no talking.
I don't intend to go to one with a loud and obnoxious group of drunk people, but if I go with a friend, I'd like to be able to talk normally enough like you would at a regular bar.
Are there any listening bars where an appropriate level of talk is accepted? Ditto with live jazz bars (not during the performance necessarily, but between sets.)
Or, I guess, more to the point, are there bars that have a similar focus on music but without the restrictive rules on talking?
I don't want to spoil other users' experience of the listening bars, hence why I am asking here.
Music wise, I'd be looking for soul, rnb, golden era hip hop, jazz, some house music, etc.
Am I barking up the wrong tree looking at listening bars if this is what I want?
