Wandered through the Omotesando/Harajuku area for the first time in years and had a “free my people moment” (even though I’m white)

To be honest, the crash in yen benefited me greatly despite living here for almost a decade because the fund I'm able to withdraw from is in the US (I'm American), but I can see the devastation it has caused towards my fellow Japanese co-workers and friends, as well as the people living here in general.

I almost never go to the touristy area of Harajuku, but decided to walk around the area today and I'm simply appalled by what I saw.

It's nothing but foreigners and Japanese people, who look tired beyond repair, serving them. These rude AF European travelers, as well as others from all over.

I was just people watching and the way they (the Europeans specifically) interact with staff at stores and restaurants is atrociously rude. I was witnessing this all over and suddenly had a moment where I realized that this all needs to stop.

We can't have this in Japan anymore. We can't have foreigners buying up all the properties and turning them into cheap airbnbs which only attract more foreigners. We can't have the yen keep crashing until it's 250 to 1 dollar (which actually may happen within a few years).

I'm not sure what the solutions are, but does anyone else feel like this? I'm so tired of seeing rude foreigners muck up a place that I call home.
