I’m an IT engineer with about 2–3 years of experience. Recently, I received an offer from a global company through an agent.
I went through four interviews. The first one was a standard interview based on my CV in both Japanese and English. The second one was in-person at their office, where I had a technical interview. I was asked to analyze a given architecture, explain why it wasn’t efficient, and propose improvements. I also answered questions about SQL and basic Spark concepts—such as why certain approaches wouldn’t work and how to optimize them. Although it sounded difficult, I found it surprisingly easy, so I guess I was just lucky.
Anyway, I got an offer with a pretty good salary. However, I’m worried about the gap between how I see myself and how others seem to view me—as a “great engineer” based on the interviews.
I’m anxious that I might not meet their expectations, even though I passed all the interviews. Honestly, they felt quite easy for me.
Also, my new title is Lead Engineer, but most people in that position have at least 7 years of experience. That makes me a bit nervous
