Hi there! I'm a university arts student from Australia looking to solo travel for 10 days in Kyushu in late Jan next year and I was looking for advice on if my itinerary is feasible without a car rental 🙂
As my second time in Japan, I am curious to explore the more slow and grounded experiences of living in rural Japan. I was thinking of staying in some smaller towns for a few days to just soak and hike around and paint.
Thus, my itinerary at the moment looks like this:
Fly in to Fukuoka
2 nights in Fukuoka
1 night in Kumamoto
2 nights in Mount Aso
4 nights in Taketa
Fly out of Oita
I'm mostly concerned about ease of travel during my stays in Aso and Taketa (which was recommended to me by someone who stayed there, hence the small town) and was wondering if not owning a car/knowing how to drive would come to bite me in the ass,,,
It's not a super concrete plan, so if there are any tips on how to plan a 10 day trip in Kyushu for someone looking to paint/sketch the local scenery (and do some hiking) please let me know 🙂
