This is for JICPA accountant in Japan.
Hi, I’m currently living in Tokyo and working as a sole accountant for a biotech company. I report directly to CEO and CFO both are not certified CPA. I really like my company and want to help IPO in the future.
I will be getting US CPA license as soon as I get a chance to return to US and finish my exam. But with current work nature, I feel I need JICPA. Auditing is extremely taxing because I do not understand Japanese standard. I worked at Google Japan and even there I had hard time understanding audit and no one was certified JICPA.
I think it would be great experience to study for the JICPA exam. But after looking into the licensure process, I have a question about 3 years professional accountancy educational program. What is it? Do I have to quit my current job to pursue it? I have limited understanding about this part. If someone can help me out, that would be great :).
