6 Days trip to Tokyo and Kyoto in 2nd trimester of pregnancy. Please provide advice/ feedback/ tips on my Kyoto itinerary.

Hi, I am traveling with my partner and a 4yr old to Japan for a 6 day trip. We will be spending 3 days in Kyoto and 3 days in Tokyo. I'm hoping to get some feedback/ corrections/ tips, especially with respect to my pregnant condition. I'm fairly fit and can walk flat long walks with short breaks in between.

Here's my itinerary for Kyoto (writing another post for Tokyo):

Travel day: Travel from US -> Haneda. Then, catch the Shinkansen to Kyoto. Check-in at the hotel and rest for the night.

Day 1: Kyoto east and Gion
8:00 – Head to Fushimi Inari
* From Kyoto Station take the JR Nara Line local train (platform ~8-10) to Inari Station.
Question: How difficult is the hike up the trail? Is it worth going all the way up?
10:00 – Depart Fushimi Inari → head to Kiyomizu-dera.
* From Inari Station take Keihan Main Line (to Kiyomizu-Gojo Station)
Question: How difficult is the walk up to the temple? If difficult, should I switch this place with some other? Recommendations?
12:30 – Lunch at some vegan place.
13:30 – Walk from Kiyomizu area through Ninenzaka / Sannenzaka streets (gentle downhill) towards Gion.
14:00-15:30 – Explore Gion riverside walk: stroll by the river near the Shirakawa canal in Gion district; easy, mostly flat.
Evening – Optional: stroll around Pontocho, maybe along Kamogawa river bank at dusk (flat walk). What else to do in Pontocho area? Dinner at Ain Soph Journey.

Day 2: Kyoto West & Arashiyama

08:15 – Depart hotel → Arashiyama.08:45 – Arrive Arashiyama area.

Path is paved, fairly gentle (though uphill somewhat depending route) and stroller/carrier friendly according to blogs.

Because of pregnancy, take the gentler route: enter via north exit of Tenryu-ji to avoid the steepest bits.

10:00-11:00 – Visit Ōkōchi Sansō Garden

11:00-12:00 – Lunch in Arashiyama area.

Questions:
Should we do boat ride in this area or skip and just walk around?
Any must try strictly vegan restaurants suggestions?

12:30 – Head back toward central Kyoto.

13:15–14:00 – Visit to Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion).

14:30 – 15:45 – Visit Nijō Castle

  • Taxi (~15 min) from Kinkaku-ji to Nijo Castle
  • Easy, mostly flat grounds with benches and shaded walking paths

16:15 – Dinner near our hotel. Return to hotel, rest.

Question: where can we go in the evening, after dinner?

Day 3 – Eikando Temple, Philosopher’s Path, Ginkaku-ji, Nara Half-day

  • 08:00 Taxi to Eikandō Temple (Zenrin-ji)
    • Arrive by 8:30 AM when it opens — peaceful and nearly empty
    • Slight slope at entrance, but the main garden is terraced gently with handrails
    • Famous for early autumn foliage — absolutely magical reflections in its pond
  • 09:30 From Eikandō, stroll (flat, canal-side) along the Philosopher’s Path
    • Stop at Honen-in Temple (quiet, moss-covered garden, gentle incline)
  • 10:15 Reach Ginkaku-ji (Silver Pavilion)
    • Slight slope with some steps but well-maintained and short
    • One of Kyoto’s most beautiful and tranquil temples
  • 11:30 Early vegan lunch nearby
    • Ain Soph Journey Kyoto Higashiyama or Choice Café Kyoto (vegan, near Keage Station)
  • 12:30 Taxi or bus back to Kyoto Station
  • 13:00–13:45 Train to Nara (JR Nara Line Rapid ~45 min)
  • 14:00–16:30 Nara Park + Todai-ji Temple (mostly flat, minor steps)
    • Todai-ji Great Buddha Hall is stroller/wheelchair friendly
    • Relax under trees with deer or in cafes around the park
  • 16:45–17:30 Return to Kyoto
  • Evening: Free, early dinner near hotel. Catch the Shinkansen back to Tokyo.
  • General Questions: Do I need to pre-book rickshaw tour on Klook for Arashiyama and Nara area? I assume this would be less exhausting for me. Do you recommend rickshaw tour at all?
  • What other temples/ gardens/ scenic walks should I add to my list?
  • Are my days too packed, given the condition?
  • Do I need to pre book Shinkansen? I've read it's better to stand in line in case I am running late and miss my reserved train. Also read that the fastest Shinkansen are scheduled every 15mins or so.

Big apologies for the weird formatting.
