Best immigration path out of two:

Hi friends! Before we start, I apologize if I’m asking a question that has been answered on this subreddit as well. I know my situation includes lots of variables, I’ll appreciate any advice from experienced contributors 🙂

My situation is following: I’m a Ukrainian citizen, I moved to the US in 2021 because I got a full merit scholarship to pursue my Bachelors of Business Administration in one of the top colleges (known in the US, but not so much abroad).
During my college years I was able to study abroad and intern in different countries, mostly business development and b2b sales jobs (UK, Italy, the US).

My original plan was return back home after receiving my degree, but I’m not able to do that because of war.

I graduated this year and I was trying to secure a job that would help me with further work authorization. I did secure a a job but it doesn’t fulfill my career aspirations (I don’t feel like I’m growing there), and they won’t help me with immigration matters. Plus current administration doesn’t make me happy or safe here.

I’m in a stage of considering moving countries and Japan is on my list. It was easy to adjust to American culture while in college, so I think education immigration path is the best for me. I’d have to get a scholarship to fund my Master’s degree, and I’d like to pursue Product Management or adjacent fields that blend business and technical skills. I know that Japanese language is a must in job search, so I saved extra funds to take courses before I even start applying to universities.

Additional things I consider, my boyfriend is US citizen and a veteran, and he will be moving with me. He wants to get a civilian job on US military base in Japan. Another path I was considering, is moving with him as a spouse, and taking language courses for a year before applying for Master’s.

My questions to this community:

1) Is it better to move to Japan as a Masters student, or as a spouse of American base employee in my case?

2) Will getting Master’s help in securing a job in business/startup industry afterwards?

3) How different is Japanese work culture from American work culture?

4) Is it hard to get a job on a US base in Japan?
