Monthly Meetup Thread – November

Are you traveling to Japan this month? Want to hang out with other Redditors while you navigate the country? Then this is the thread for you!

Please post any and all meetup requests here. Be sure to include:

  • Your basic itinerary
  • Dates of travel and cities you're planning to visit
  • Your age and gender identity
  • Your home country (and any other languages you might speak)
  • OPTIONAL: Share some of your hobbies or interests!

We have a Discord server you can use to coordinate meetups and other activities. You can join the official r/JapanTravel Discord here! There are also monthly meetup/planning channels, so react accordingly, and you can create threads for specific dates/locations if you so desire.

In the past, people have used LINE to coordinate and plan meetups.

NOTE: Please only post meetup requests for this month. If you are traveling in the future, please reserve all meetup requests for the thread that corresponds with the month of your first date of arrival in Japan. This thread is automatically posted 7 days before the start of the month.

  1. Hello, this will be my first time visiting Japan. I’m a 32 year old male living in America and visiting Japan solo for the first time.

    I’ll be taking off for Japan on November 3rd and will land in Haneda airport on the 4th pretty late. From November 5th to the 9th, I’ll be in Sapporo.

    During my stay, I plan to visit the Sapporo Art Park, Historic Village of Hokkaido, Hokkaido University Museum, and the Sapporo Beer Museum. If possible, I’ll also try to shop around for MTG cards and manga for collection purposes.

    On the 9th, I’ll fly back to Tokyo, and I’ll stay there until the 13th. If possible, I plan on visiting Tokyo DisneySea, and the Ueno Park museums, as well as TeamLabs Borderless and the National Art Center.

    Obviously I don’t think I’ll be able to see even a fraction of the things I plan to, but enjoying the city and taking it in at your own pace is part of the fun of travel.

    If anyone wants to meet up for a bite to eat or enjoy the sights, just lmk and I’ll see if we can organize something.

  3. Hi! I’m a 35 year old Belgian solo traveling to Japan for the first time!

    I’ll be staying in Tokyo from Nov 20 — Nov 25, Hakone Nov 25 — Nov 26, Kyoto Nov 26 — Dec 1 (and after that I’m doing Hiroshima & Osaka)

    My hotel in Tokyo is in Shinjuku and in Kyoto I’m staying in the Gion district.

    Always up for grabbing some food or drinks at bars!
