I was riding my bicycle on my way home from school, and as I was going through a narrow area between the entrance to a station and an elevator I bumped into an elderly man. I am usually a cautious rider so luckly I was going pretty slowly (like a jogging pace) and the man cleared the corner at the last second and I didn't stop in time and bumped him in the shoulder. I immediately stopped and apologized and asked if he was okay, and he seemed pretty shooked up but he said he was okay and proceeded to go through the station gate so I got on my bike and went home.
I was looking into whether or not I should report this to the police and I found this article which says that if nobody was injured and no damage was done there is no need to report it, but I just wanted to see if anyone else had been in a similar situation and if it's okay to just take the pedestrian's word for it and let it be? Like what if he ends up getting bruised or something and files it to the police at a later date – would it be considered a hit and run?
