First sashimi plate


Kinda just going on vibes. Have been intimidated by sashimi for a while but decided to sharpen the knives and give it a try.

Lightly coated with EVOO, tiny lump of ugly cuts in the middle. Panko for texture. Some dried cilantro too, maybe weird but a personal preference, love how it goes with lemon.

  1. I’m curious how the Panko was. I haven’t seen it used in sashimi like this. Was it any good?

  2. How do you keep the lemon from overpowering the salmon?

    Lemon has a very strong and definite flavour, while salmon is pretty delicate. I usually have to be wary of how much soy sauce I use to not drown its taste.

  3. That looks great! Besides the traditional shoyu and wasabi mix, you could also try some flavor of Ponzu Sauce as well and add some grated ginger. Enjoy it anyway you want!
