Helping newcomers get settled in Tokyo. Paperwork, insurance, banks, and more

Hi all,

I’ve been living in Tokyo for a while now, and over time I’ve helped 7 newcomers (friends, coworkers, and other expats) get through the mountain of admin that comes with moving here , ward office visits, national health insurance, MyNumber, bank accounts, etc.

Because there’s clearly a need, I recently started offering this as a one-on-one support service for people moving to Tokyo with long-term visas.

Here’s what I typically help with:

  • Ward office registration & MyNumber
  • Health insurance setup
  • Opening bank accounts that accept foreign residents
  • Utilities, phone plans, pension registration, etc.

If anyone’s just arrived or planning to move soon and wants reliable help with these steps, feel free to DM me or comment below.

Even if you’re not looking for a service, I’m happy to answer questions. I know how stressful that first month can be.

(Mods, let me know if this isn’t appropriate — happy to remove if needed.)
