Hey everyone,
I just saw the recent news where PM Takae Shinichi and the new foreign minister Onoda were talking about making a law that would restrict foreigners from buying land in Japan.
I’ve been living here for 6 years on a highly skilled professional visa, working full time, paying taxes, and really trying to integrate – I even studied hard and passed JLPT N2. My plan was to buy a home next year for my family and finally settle down here for good.
Now hearing this kind of talk honestly makes me feel really discouraged. I came to Japan because I loved how peaceful and stable it is, and I wanted to build a future here the right way – through work, language, and respect for the culture.
But if they go through with something like this, it feels like all the effort might not mean much in the end.
Is anyone else feeling the same? Or maybe you have a different take on this? I’m really curious how other long-term residents or visa holders are thinking about this situation.
