Very satisfying Omakase and Toro

This was at Amami sushi in San Bruno, CA

It came with fresh wasabi. Hoping that that’s actually fresh wasabi this time, but it’s definitely better than that glob of mushed powder wasabi.

The Uni on top of Toro was only $15 for two pieces!!

They don’t put much rice either.

Receipt on the last image with 20% tip.

  1. Hard pass. Looks delicious but the ratio is garbage. If I wanted sashimi then that’s what I’d have ordered.

  2. Amami is the best. This is their signature style of nigiri. Always hits the spot. Mmmmmm

  3. It’s pretty easy to tell fresh wasabi from the stuff in a tube. Horseradish based wasabi always has a rather harsh sting, no matter what you do to it, while fresh wasabi becomes mild when spread out across a large piece of fish.

TLDR: If you can find a way to eat it without experiencing that harsh burn that naturally comes with horseradish wasabi, it’s real.

  4. How do you eat it? The fish looks beautiful but I prefer when each piece is one bite

  5. As soon as I saw the plating I knew its from Amami! I havent been for over 5 years! Their prices is soo good. I miss it!
