Pension exemption and new Visa extensions pension rules

So with the news with tightening visa extension rules I was worried about my pension. I had some time when I was unemployed but still on a valid visa (5 years). When I was unemployed I applied for pension exemption and was granted full exemption until summer of that year
How does exemption affect the new visa extensions? I don’t see anywhere that mentions this scenario.
