Hi everyone, I am in Ine right now, and the guy from the tourism information office was strongly discouraging me to go outside of Ine town (I was planning to grab the bus to go to Ohara, Urashima, and walk nearby to see the beach, cliffs, rice terraces…).
He told me it’s the worst season right now to go outside touristic areas due to the wild bears of the region, feeding themselves in preparation for hibernation. Which increases encounters, sometimes they go near villages. When I ask how he know about that, he told it’s shared information between locals, and himself doesn’t go outside.
Thoughts? (Decided to stick to Ine town and relax, but would like to hear if anyone has any knowledge of that, and if I should be wary even in other Japan directions and until when)
Thank you 🙂
