Hi there everyone, long time lurker and first time poster here (I think)!
This question mainly persists to anyone who is or was a Pennsylvania resident since self uniting marriage licenses are a Pennsylvania specific thing (I think maybe one or two other stays may offer it but idk).
My fiance is a Japanese citizen and we are both currently living in Pennsylvania in the US. After I finish my degree next year she would like to start the process of moving back to japan due to the current political climate in the US.
We plan on doing a Self Uniting Marriage (Quaker-style) in Pennsylvania since neither one of us are religious and we do not plan on having any official ceremony (besides a small family get together). We have been reading that a self uniting marriage can sometimes be less universally accepted outside of the US. So we're just sort of curious if anyone else has ever had any issues with the recognition of a Self Uniting Marriage license and the processes of Japanese Spousal Visa.
Thanks!
